Writing Opinion on an article 50 shades of beige: Foundation and our obsession with fair skin. In my opinion, this article is very interesting, because it highlights the systemic racism and racial prejudice towards people of color that still lingers 70 years after European colonialism in this country has officially ended. Even though brown skin is the majority in Indonesia, people still uphold the belief that lighter skin and other features prominently found in white women were superior. While progress towards inclusivity is starting to take notice in other countries, Indonesia seems to be making little to no progress at all.
