Writing Opinion on an article

50 shades of beige: Foundation and our obsession with fair skin.

In my opinion, this article is very interesting, because it highlights the systemic racism and racial prejudice towards people of color that still lingers 70 years after European colonialism in this country has officially ended. Even though brown skin is the majority in Indonesia, people still uphold the belief that lighter skin and other features prominently found in white women were superior. While progress towards inclusivity is starting to take notice in other countries, Indonesia seems to be making little to no progress at all. I also think as consumers what we can do to change the situation is to be clearer to the beauty industry that there is actually quite a big market of dark skin people looking for a foundation shade that matched their own, because truly the beauty industry only cares about one color and that is green ($$$). And as the beauty and cosmetic industry continues to grow at an unprecedented rate (the current worth for the global cosmetic industry is literally at 445 billion USD) now is the time to start demanding change.
